England Design is the web home of Cynthia England, an internationally known quilting instructor and quilt pattern designer. Cynthia is most well-known for her Picture Pieced quilts. Cynthia's most recognized quilt, Piece and Quiet, was chosen as one of the "The Twentieth Century's Best American Quilts" in 2000.In addition to this award, Cynthia won Best of Show at the International Quilt Festival in Houston for Piece and Quiet in 1993 and for Open Season in 2000.

Two New Patterns for Fall 2011Cynthia introduced 2 new patterns at the Fall 2011 International Quilt Market and Festival. Golf Anyone?, shown below left (and at the top of the page), and Tranquil Lake, shown below right , are both new additions to Cynthia's Small Landscape Series. Each quilt is 19" x 17". England Design NewsTwo of Cynthia's quilts were on display in the Texas Quiltmakers Exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. The exhibit celebrated the release of Lone Stars III: Texas Quilts Today by Karey Patterson Bresenhan and Nancy O'Bryant Puentes as well as the opening of the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange, Texas. The two quilts of Cynthia's which were in the exhibit include: Open Season and One Fine Day. These two quilts, as well as Cynthia's Piece and Quiet and Power of Houston are included in the book. The Texas Quilt Museum will officially open on November 13, 2011. Cynthia's quilt One Fine Day is also pictured in the October/November 2011 issue (no. 424) of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine in an article about the new museum entitled "Texas Quilt Museum to Open in November". | ||

There are seven international teachers: Cynthia England, Pat Sloan, Jodi Barrows, Susan Brubaker Knapp, Dena Crain, Barbara Groves and Mary Jacobsen. These international teachers along with an array of talented South African teachers will be sharing their expertise in three days of exciting classes. In addition there will be a large vendors mall.


Starting May 10, 2010 Cynthia appears on Episode 610 of The Quilt Show. The Quilt Show is an online quilting show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. Alex and Ricky came to Cynthia's studio back in November to film the segment with Cynthia. You'll need to be a member to view the online show, so be sure to check out
