This spectacular 10' x 9' nighttime depiction of the Houston skyline was created by Cynthia England, Libby Lehman and Vicki Mangum of Houston, TX. International Quilt Festival got the ball rolling by commissioning the project to celebrate its 1999 show, "The Quilt Show of the Century" in Houston, TX on October 20th - 24th, 1999. Using a photograph to work from, the artists collaborated on the design. Cynthia used her Picture Piecing technique to create the buildings, Libby added her expertise by creating the fabulous fireworks using a variety of metallic threads. Vicki added intricate metallic quilting to enhance the project.
